KNIEVEL DAYS 2005
Knievel days 2005, 50.000 people one 5.6 earth quake and one bad ass Screaming Eagle Harley Davidson VRSC V-ROD with a 65 year old rider who looked more like a 20 year old when he  twisted that grip and rode hard and fast!                                                                                                                                                 Wednesday just a day before the event was slated to start Evel dropped by the Plaza hotel where I was staying and strolled into Hops bar and bought us all a drink and had everybody listening intently to every word, he told about the infamous "no chute hay jump" that almost happened if it were not for the Las Vegas gamming comission and about his health problems and how he was now starting a new medicne he has to take every two hours nine times a day for 30 minutes but besides that he said he felt better than he had in a long time, he drank his O' Doules and told the crowd that had started to gather that next year Trigger Gumm would jump in Butte right on Boradway street! and Trigger was going to take this sport to the next level which I think after his 277 footer everyone agrees, I know Trigger will break the 300 foot mark Evel said.   I walked out with Evel and he told me about his brand new Screaming Eagle V-rod and how it was so light and the best riding bike he has ever rode and he was so proud of that machine with the name "EVEL KNIEVEL" in turned gold leaf reminisent of Indian Larry's work and all the billet and crome shining like new copper from the old mine just a couple of miles away from where we stood I was happy for him and proud to be in his home town with him,as he was riding away he said "see ya pal" then  he blasted up the on ramp at a good 100 MPH and was gone like a flash, I tell ya he sure didnt ride like someone who was sick!
I want to let everybody know reality shows are anything but reality, Todd is a great guy and is a real pro when it come to building anything with wood and steel
this is a little something Evel left at the Met Tavern, if you ain't been to the Met you ain't been to Butte!
PART TWO IS HERE!!
Knievel days is fast becoming the north western rally to experience with all the free shows and the rich history of Butte there is something for everyone!
I am standing on the ACTUAL ramps Evel used in all his USA jumps since before the palace jump! I didn't even consider they still existed at all! thanks to Jim Dick they are still around and look strong enough to have a few more jumps on them! its great to see a part of American history close up!
