sponser Krysten Knievel in her race for a cure for pulmonary fibrosis, As she enters the 2008 Chicago marathon!
Missions Statement: My name is Krysten Knievel. My grandfather was the legendary daredevil known as Evel Knievel. I knew him as "grandpa evel." I always knew my family was a little more than average ever since I was a little girl. I also remember watching old jump videos of my grandfather and understanding he was famous, but I was never quite able to fathom the impact he has made in the lives of people all across America. My grandfather, Robert Craig Knievel left behind a legacy that I intend to continue. However, I can only hope to leave a quarter of the mark he left on the people of this country. My grandfather taught me hard work, dedication and commitment. "You're never a failure if you get back up." He said. "If you say you're going to do something, you do it." He said. When my grandfather lost in his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, (scarring of the lungs) my family and I were in shock. We knew he had been struggling with it for several years, but we never expected a man that had survived hitting pavement for so many years and was still passionate about what he did, would lose his life to disease such as this. Pulmonary Fibrosis is an incurable disease. The fibrotic tissue that forms in the airsacs of the lungs, makes it virtually impossible for oxygenated blood to flow freely in and out of the lungs. Thus, the patient is literally suffocating to death. I remember taking my grandfather for a walk down the hallway this summer. He had to turn up his oxygen and by the time we made it to the end, and turned around, he was exhausted. It was so hard to see him suffer through something like this. Although I am glad to know that he is at peace, I feel that my grandfather did not get a fair fight in this battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. I know there are many others out there who are not getting a fair fight as well. This is why I have chosen to run the Chicago Marathon and collect sponsorship for the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of my grandpa evel and every one else who is suffering from this disease. Any and all donations are much appreciated. Please send all donations to: The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation 1332 N. Halsted Street Chicago, Il 60622 The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation will send an acknowledgement letter with 501 c3 tax deductible information. Just make a note that the donation is in honor of Krysten's Knievel Krusade for a Cure - Chicago Marathon 2008. Thank you for your consideration. Sincrely, Krysten Knievel
